The Nepal England Education Support charity was established after our founder Joanna Luscombe-whyte, visited Vinayak Shksha Niketan School, in the village of Thimi in Nepal and volunteered at the school to help children learn English.\u00a0 Joanna started to sponsor some poor children in the village who could not afford to go to school and when she returned to the UK she persuaded her friends and family to do the same. \u00a0As the sponsorship grew it became clear that the group needed to form as a charity to support growth of the sponsorship program under a more formal set of guidelines.\u00a0 Together with the original Trustees Joanna founded a charity called Nepal England Education Support to promote the sponsorship.\u00a0 Several of our sponsors and Trustees have visited the school over the years since then to see for themselves the impact that a small amount of money could have on the future of children.\u00a0<\/p>

Over the years since then the school has grown into a vibrant place for education and safety for the children of the village, it has established itself as a center for the community and the charity has expanded into other smaller projects to support the village and its close-knit community.<\/p>

Each sponsor becomes a pen friend to the child they support and receives annual school reports to monitor progress, some of our sponsors have continued to support the children after they leave school, helping them to finance a place at college and later even through medical school and nursing college.\u00a0 The young people who have benefited from this support have gone on to be professional adults, contributing to the future of Nepal and their village, school and family.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

\n\t\t\t\t\t\tNepal England Education Support (NEES) is a registered UK charity that supports a small school called Vinayak Niketan School, in the village of Thimi in Nepal.\n\nThimi, a traditional Nepalese village near Kathmandu, relies on pottery, mask-making, and farming for livelihood. Potters create their wares on manual wheels in the village streets, firing them in open kilns. The rise of inexpensive machine-made pottery has made it challenging to sell handcrafted goods, prompting villagers to explore furniture-making and other employment opportunities. Farmers cultivate vegetables and rice in the fertile soil, transporting their produce to Kathmandu markets or selling to hotels.\n\nEducation levels in Thimi remain low, with children often leaving school early to help their families. This cycle of limited education perpetuates traditional employment patterns. In 1989, local teacher Surendra Prajapati established Vinayak Shiksha Niketan School to provide affordable education for Thimi\u2018s children. The school, initially operating from his home, now boasts a multi-story building, 45 teachers, and 810 students. Through international sponsorship, the school offers English, Maths, Science, Computer Studies, and Nepali, enabling students to complete a high school education. \n\nThis is particularly crucial for girls, who often face early school departure. The school\u2019s success stories include sponsored students pursuing higher education in fields like medicine, engineering, and teaching, offering hope for a brighter future.\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t\t\n\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t

\n\t\t\t\t\t\tThe school uses international sponsorship as a way to assist poor local people in affording education for their children. The school is currently searching for more kind-hearted people to sponsor under-privileged students. Your sponsorship allows the children to be educated in English, Maths, Science, Computer Studies and the local language of Nepali. It also enables students to complete a high school education (10 years). Culturally, this is important, especially for females as sometimes in Nepal girls have to leave school at 10-12 years of age to help the family; they have no hope of employment or further education. Some of our sponsored students have already completed high school education and are studying medicine, engineering, nursing, teaching and management skills\nWe are very proud of being able to educate under-privileged local people and hope this will help them to improve their future.\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t\t\n\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t

\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\tThe Goat Project\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/span>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/h3>\n\t\t\t\t\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t

\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\nA regular activity for NEES is to donate a small herd of goats to the village. These goats are donated on the understanding that they will breed kid goats from the original group and give them freely to other villagers to give a goat\u2019s milk supply and later on food for the whole village. This project has been an extremely effective way of helping to stabilize food supplies and give the villagers the means of being self sufficient on their small holdings. Nepalese people do not eat beef and so goat is a premium source of protein for villagers. There is a huge annual demand for goats meat in Nepal, however the meat production is much less which makes it very expensive to buy in normal markets. By bringing goat farming to the people, it helps create entrepreneurs out of farming communities as they raise their goats to support their family.\nGoats are easy to raise and look after due to their friendly nature, so the whole family can get involved, goats are disease resistant hardy animals and can survive happily in the harsh winters of Nepal. Goats milk is super nutritious, and goats can be raised to produced milk, meat, skin\/fiber and manure. These animals do not need heavy expensive pens or huge areas of land, so they are a very cost-effective way of farming for a poor community.\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t\t\n\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t

\n\t\t\t\t\t\tA group of girls from VSN school have been teaching local girls about menstruation and correct hygiene. They are also raising money for sanitary products and hygiene kits for free distribution the local community. Any donations will go towards the purchasing of these products\t\t\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t\t\n\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t
